I recently got a call from a Univision news producer asking me if I had heard of the girl that had fought a possible abductor off in Walmart. I told him that I had. He had read about my expertise in child safety and reality based street defense and asked him to do a segment for Univision News that would air nationally and to Latin America. I prepared a program for Univision and used my good friend Manny Reyes Jr. a kickboxing, karate and MMA champion to do the role of the predator. We were interviewed by Lourdes Ramos. Univision filmed for over 3 hours dramatization of child abduction scenes and actual footing of street defense against predators in my school. This segment aired on Saturday, February 25.
Since 1998, Anta’s Fitness and Self Defense a Community Safe Martial Arts School has been teaching children in Doral how to protect themselves from bullies and predators. I have made it a mission to educate the children of our community in child safety and stranger danger. My education in child safety started as a law enforcement officer working in a maximum security prison. Later I was certified as an Officer Agent of the National Security Alliance Kid-Safe Network. My center Anta’s Fitness and Self Defense is also a Steal-Proof Master licensed School. Our goal is to keep children safe.
Over a million children are abused, molested or abducted every year! There are numerous child molesters on the prowl in Miami Dade County. According to statistics, the majority of crimes against children are committed by someone the child knows. The child is usually scared, ashamed and embarrassed to say no. As parents we need to empower our children with the right to say no.
As a martial arts instructor, retired law enforcement officer and a parent of two boys Master Anta has conducted many child safety seminars from South Florida to North Carolina and has appeared in numerous TV shows, newspapers and magazines. Our martial arts school specializes in making children safer in our community and we have declared war on those looking to harm our children. The goal of our Kung Fu Kids program is to give parents and children as much information as we can about our common enemy and teach them effective countermeasures to keep them from becoming a victim. We would like to share with you a few basic rules you can teach your children.
I want to leave you with Five Tips to keep your children safe.
1. GIVE KIDS PERMISSION TO SAY NO TO ADULTS
2. NO SHORTCUTS (Always use same route)
3. IMPORTANT INFORMATION (Know your address and parents phone number)
4. WHEN LOST ASK FOR HELP
5. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS
In future articles I’ll explain these 5 tips. If you need information on our Kung Fu Kids program which includes child safety and awareness please call us at 305 599-3649. Anta on Univision News Child Safety
Introducing kids to self-defense is a good way to keep them safe. Self-defense teaches kids to be street-smart and alert at all times. It also improves their muscle tone, making them fit and lean adults.
