In May martial arts, fitness instructor and the creator of The Art of Fighting Without Fighting Anti-Bullying program Julio Anta released his new anti-bullying, confidence building video “The Art of Fighting Without Fighting Anti-Bullying. The program was inspired by the teachings of Bruce Lee and President Ronald Reagan. The term the art of fighting without fighting was a concept used in Bruce Lee’s movie “Enter the Dragon.” The motto of this anti-bullying video is “Peace Through Strength” which President Reagan believed in.
80% of bullying incidents on children occur in school. Teachers and the school system alone can’t stop bullying we are recruiting hero’s to take the “Be a Superhero Not a Bystander” pledge to become part of a team to stomp out bullying.
The difference between a martial artist and a bully is respect. Most kids at one time or another wanted to be hero’s like their favorite superhero’s, such as Superman, Spiderman, Ninja Turtle and Power Rangers. Some had more realistic roles such as joining the military, becoming Police Officers or Firefighters. The Art of Fighting Without Fighting Anti-Bullying has a unique concept of encouraging kids to become Superhero’s and not bystanders when they witness an act of bullying, they call it The Justice League of Martial Artis. When they sign the banner and take the pledge they will get a certificate that identifies them as a Junior Members of The Justice League of Martial Artist. The Art of Fighting Without Fighting Anti-Bullying, Be a Hero Not a Bystander Campaign will enforce the concept that bullying is not cool. Being like a Superhero by defending those being bullied is cool.
Head instructor Julio Anta believes in leading by example and was the first person at Anta’s Fitness and Self Defense to sign the Hero banner. Anta is encouraging students to sign the banner, take the oath and recruit their friends to become honorary members of the Junior Justice League of Martial Artist by taking the pledge and signing the banner not to be a bystander.
Anta’s Fitness and Self Defense will be holding two events free to the public to promote the be a hero not a bystander campaign. On Friday, September 5, from 6 to 8:30PM they will have their Annual Back to School Bash. On Saturday, October 11, in honor of National Anti-Bullying Month they will host The Art of Fighting Without Fighting Anti-Bullying Workshop, Be a Hero Not a Bystander is also free to the public. Their goal is to have over 1000 people pledge not to be bystanders in an effort to stomp out bullying.
