To achieve success in fitness, set your goal, keep the end in mind, keep yourself
motivated and don't give up.
To be successful as a fitness instructor I lead by example. My students think I was always fit and strong - a jock in school. In reality, as a child I was shy and sickly - always the last one picked in gym class. Now I'm turning 50 and achieving all the goals I dreamed of when I was young.
How did I do it? I learned to use these five steps. I know they can work for you too:
1. Set Your Goals
2. Keep Your End in Your Mind
3. Stay Motivated
4. Never Give Up
5. Stay Away from Negative People
Set a Goal: Every year I write my vision for the year. These are my personal, business, fitness, financial and spiritual goals. People who write their goals down and review them have a better rate of success. It's like having a road map.
Visualize Your End: Before I promote students to the next rank, I have them close their eyes and visualize themselves reaching the rank of Black Belt. This helps them keep the end in mind. When I have a student who wants to lose weight I have them close their eyes and visualize how they will look in 3 months. This is seeing the end in mind.
Stay Motivated: Stay abreast of the latest health and fitness news. I have read all of Dr. Sears' books. You can also cut photos from magazines that resemble the body that you are striving for. Put it in your workout journal. Bruce Lee, the King of Kung Fu cut out photos of body parts and pasted them together to make what he saw as the perfect physic. I have photos of Sly Stallone. This motivates me to eat healthy and train harder.
Be Consistent: Take consistent action and be patient. If you follow this, you will reach your goals. Be consistent with it and never give up. It doesn't matter how many times you have failed in the past if you don't quit you will succeed. The only way to fail is by giving up on your goals. Never stop continuing on your journey to a successful, healthy and fit lifestyle.
Avoid Negative People: We all know people who are always down, depressed, angry and mad at the world. They feel that life is unfair and they are unlucky. Stay away from negative people and build friendships with positive go getters and it will wear off on you. Prove those who said you couldn't do it wrong.
Take these tips and defy the odds.
Believe in yourself and your goals, like mine, will be your reality.
