Aging is something we will all experience from the day we are born until we leave this world. We can’t stop aging 100%, yet we can delay it, be productive and active in our senior years.
I believe that the combination of the bodybuilding and martial arts lifestyle is what keeps me athletic and young. It’s my fountain of youth. In my book “Anta’s Ageless Warrior Fitness” that I wrote 3 years ago when I was 57 I stated that I would be in better shape at 60 than I was when I wrote the book. Even though I went through a lot of adversity and injuries I was able to keep my promise. I went a step further and won the 2017 South Florida Bodybuilding Championships Over 60 after 32 years since my last bodybuilding competition.
Read on to find out my anti-aging strategies and how I build muscle and I’m more athletic at 60 then when I was younger. As we age we lose muscle size, flexibility, our metabolism slows down and we gain extra fat. There are ways around it and you can look better in your senior years. I have a saying “Train like a 50 year old and you’ll look like a 50 year old. Train Like an Ageless Warrior and you’ll look like an Ageless Warrior.”
Train like a bodybuilder. Training heavy with weights and kettlebells will build muscle, strengthen your bones, tighten your skin, bring up your testosterone levels and your HGH (Human Growth Hormone.) You must let the muscles rest to rebuild the tissue. It will also keep you away from injuries. I workout each body part once a week.
Do martial arts to keep your body flexible, gives you great balance and keeps you moving functionally. These are some of the attributes that you lose when you age because you are not doing them. In martial arts you stretch, kick, punch and do stance training. This is in turn will keep your mobile, flexible and it’s great HIIT (high intensity interval training.)
Doing rounds on the heavy bag three minutes of striking and one minute rest will strengthen you heart, keep your muscles and speedup your metabolism. Stay away from traditional cardio it will age you. Long distances running and long cardio destroys muscles mass and is bad for your joints.
Supplement your diet with proven herbs such as Shilajit, Pine Pollen Maca and Tribulus to bring up your testosterone levels. Use DIM to lower your estrogen levels. Take DHEA to bring up your DHEA levels and L. Arginine for your HGH. These are all key hormones that we need to monitor for optimal health and longerty.
Today most 30 year olds are out of shape what they call the Dad Bod. Stop thinking that you are old and your best days are behind you. Have a positive mind set and set goals.
I love the story of Calebs in the Bible. Caleb was a spy and great warrior. By this time he was 85 years of age and he was as strong as he had been a generation earlier when he first traveled through Canaan as a spy. He proved his strength and power by driving out the inhabitants. Caleb was a true Ageless Warrior. With healthy eating and physical training you too can be an Ageless Warrior.
