The Holy Land Experience in Orlando Florida was an excellent spiritual experience. Let me tell you of my journey to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando. On Friday March 10, I took a “Birds and Bees Trip” with my youngest son Jon-Paul. As a Christian and a parent I believe that it is my duty to teach my children about sex. I don’t agree on the public school systems view on sex 100%. Knowing that the school system was going to teach sex education to my 10 year old 5th grade son in April I needed to take him on this man to man trip. We started our journey in route to Sarasotato visit my Christian Brother and fitness instructor Frank Dimeo. After having lunch with Frank having great spiritual conversations and learning more about CrossFit training we drove off to Orlando. It was a blessing sending this quality time with Jon Paul. He had great Biblical questions, we spoke about alcohol, drugs and finally sex. I was able to speak to him about sex and also what the bible says about sex. This “Birds and the Bees Trip” will be an experience that I’m sure my boys will never forget and I feel that I started a family tradition that they will continue with their children. On Saturday we went to the Holy Land Experience. We had been there approximately 5 years ago when it opened, yet Jon Paul was too young to remember it. It has really improved in the last 5 years with added attractions. By no means expect a Disney sized attraction, not even MGM which I think is the smallest Disney attraction. Yet, this is an excellent example of the old cliché “It’s not the size but the quality that counts!” The first thing we saw was the live “Ministry of Jesus” an outdoor 20 minute presentation. What an experience, what an awesome portrayal of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I felt that I was witnessing the miracles. I definitely enjoyed the many gift and books shops. Jon Paul the jock that he is did not want to leave the rock climbing area and rock climbed for over ½ hour. He could not put the camera down snapping beautiful and truly inspirational photos. Yet, my favorite presentation was the 55 minute Scriptorium exhibit. This exhibit took you through a journey in time from Moses receiving the 10 Commandments to the origins and history of the Holy Bible. Each room you walked into was a historical timed adventure of the history of the bible from the church and government forbidding the public of reading the Bible, to Luther, to the Pilgrims to today’s modern computers. Any lies that have spread or confusion that the Da Vinci Code might have cause about the Bible was truly cleared up without even referring to this book. I will surely return to the Holy Land Experience in the near future and I recommend it to everyone. I would also like to encourage all fathers to take a man to man birds and the bees trip with your child before TV, the streets and the school system does. If they already have, it’s not to late still take the trip and straighten out the mess. You will feel blessed and fulfilled.
